Neotel CX5000 Data Service Manual
1. Click Start, point to
Settings, and click Control Panel. Use the Phone and Modem applet.
2. Select the tab, Modems
and press Add button
3. In the Install New Modem
wizard, select "Don't detect my modem; I will select it from a list"
check box, and then click Next.
4. Click (Standard Modem
Types) in Manufacturers, and choose the Standard 33600 bps Modem.
5. In Com Port Number,
click the port number you want to use (COM1/COM2).
6. It will back to Modems
tab, Click the installed modem, and then click Properties.
7. Click the Modem tab,
and change the Maximum Port Speed as 115200.
8. Click the Advanced tab,
and add Extra Initialization Commands.

(for Packet Data Service)
9. At the Advanced tab,
Click Change Default Preferences, and then click the General tab.
10. Set Port Speed as 115200,
Flow Control as Hardware.
11. Now, Click the Advanced
tab which is next to General tab.
12. Set Data Bits as 8,
Parity as None, Stop Bits as 1.
13. Press OK until you
quick to Control panel.
[Setup of Communication Port]
1. Click Start, point to Settings, and click Control Panel.
Once the Control Panel is display, double click on System
2. When the System Properties are displayed, click on the Hardware
tab and then click Device Manager.
3. Select Ports(COM & LPT) and double click on Communication
Port(COM x : the port where modem installed)
4. Click the Port Settings tab.
5. Set Bits/Sec as 115200, Data Bits as 8, Parity as None, Stop
Bits as 1, Flow Control as Hardware.
[Configuration of Dial-Up Connection]
1. Click Start, point to
Settings, and then click Network and Dial-up Connections.
2. Double click Make New
Connection, and then click on Next.
3. Click Dial-up to the
Internet, click Next
4. Select I want to set
up my Internet connection manually,
5. Select connect using
a dial up modem.
6. Select Standard 33600
bps Modem - COM1.
7. Enter the ISP name:
TMNET
8. Enter Telephone Number
as 1515
9. Select choose this connectivity
for: Anyone's use.
10. Enter Internet account
logon information (username and password).
11. Finish the wizard window.
Now, the new short-cut icon should be shown in the Network and Dial-up Connections
window.
12. Select the new short-cut
icon. The Connect To window should appear. Click Properties.
13. You can see Standard
33600 bps Modem is displayed in General tab. Click Configure.
14. Set Maximum Speed as 115200, and unselect all the check options except Enable hardware flow control (This option should be
checked). Press OK.
15. Select Networking tab.
You can see PPP: Windows 95/98/NT4/2000, Internet is displayed. Click Settings
button.
16. Clear the Enable LCP
extensions check box and Multilink connections check box. Select Enable software
compression check box.
17. Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
should be checked as components used by this connection. And others (File and
Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks, Client for Microsoft Networks) should
be unchecked.
18. Select Properties for
Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
19. Select Obtain an IP
address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically.
20. Press OK.
[Set Data Service Speed]
1. Press Menu - 3. Call Info - 4. Data Service - 2. Set Speed
2. Select 115,200(High)
3. Press OK key.
[Change Phone Mode as Data Service]
1. Enter Code for Data Service in IDLE state.

Now, all setting is finished. Connect phone to PC, and execute Dial-up Connections.
Note: MSG is the ic on at CX5000 phone.
NEOTEL CX5000 MAINTENANCE MENU
General information:
¢ The maintenance code for activation of the phone maintenance menu is
#*2180032*#
¢ Select menu function via the MENU key
¢ Select OK key whenever you select to store the data
¢ Select * key or # key to scroll the Menu function
¢ Select END key to exit or go back to the previous function
Objective: Activation of CDMA phone lines
Note: Your phone is on and on standby mode.
Step1 a. Your phone is on and currently on standby mode. Key in the maintenance
code as below: #*2180032*#.
Step2
a. From the SVC MAIN menu, scroll down using "v" button on
the phone, until you see NAM1.
b. To access NAM1, press Menu button.
c. After access, you will see SVC Sub from the menu bar,
select Phone # by pressing Menu button. Enter the phone number
obtained from Telekom and press OK.
d. Then select NAM Name, press Menu button. Change
the name to Telekom and press OK.
e. Next scroll to the CDMA Setup menu, press Menu
button to enter sub menu.
o Preferred System #_1 until Preferred System
#_6' Set all the value to 0 and press OK when done.
o System #_1 until System #_: ' Set all
the value to 0 and press OK when done.
o SID #_1, key in 10388, press
OK when done
o NID #_1, key in 111, press OK
when done
o Start from SID #_2 until NID #_4,->
' Set all value to 0, and press OK when done.
Step 3:
a. From the SVC Main Menu, use "v" button to scroll down until SMS
menu.
b. From SVC SMS menu, you will see sub menu as below:
Step 4:
a. From SVC MAIN Menu, Use "v" button to scroll down until QPCH Enable
menu.
b. Select QPCH Menu by pressing Menu, select Enabled by
* or #, press OK when done.
c. Press "End" button to quit QPCH menu and back to SVC Main
Menu.
Step 5:
a. From SVC Main Menu, Use "v" button to scroll down until CDG Test
Sup menu.
b. Select CDG Test Sup by pressing Menu, select Disabled
by pressing * or #, press OK when done.
c. Press "End" button to quit CDG Test Sup menu and back to
SVC Main Menu.
Step 6:
a. Press "End" button until phone display "Service
done, Wait!" Phone will reboot and start to use.
How to Program Telephone Number
If we assume the telephone number is 03-98765432 obtain from Telekom.
1.You must key-in the unlock program code, the number is *3001#12345#
2. Then you see the “NAM 1”, please select it.
3. You’ll see “Own number (MDN), please press select, then you key in the new telephone number provided by Telekom, 0398765432, after furnish press “O.K button”.
4. Scroll down and select “Own number (MDN)” and press select, then you can see the empty space for you to key in the new telephone number, just key in 0398765432 then press OK
5. *If the telephone number include area code is less than 10 digits, places
like Sabah and Sarawak, you need to add zero in front of area code then follow
by the telephone number. Example like 089-654321, you must key in 0089654321
in order for the phone works.
6. This is the final step, just press “back and exist”. You have
just finish programmed the Nokia 2280 CDMA Handset.
7. If you want to test the handset, make sure the telephone number is activated.
You also need to provide Telekom CDMA Division, the Electronic Serial Number
(ESN), before they can activate the CDMA Handset.
